Ayutthaya is a city steeped in history, and the most significant reason to visit is the numerous temples making up the historical park. Ayutthaya was the 2nd capital of Siam, after Sukhothai, before the capital moved to Bangkok. The kingdom of Ayutthaya came to an end when the Burmese invaded and ransacked the city, razing many of it's buildings. Now it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with the remains of many temples a constant draw pulling tourists up the road from Bangkok. Some of the key temples include:
Phra Chedi Suriyothai
Viharn Phra Mongkol
Wat Borom Phuttharam
Wat Chaiwatthanaram
Wat Na Phra Mane
Wat Phanan Choeng
Wat Phra Mahathat
