Erawan Shrine

The Erawan Shrine was built in 1956, close to the then "Erawan Hotel". During the early phases of construction the project was beset by problems, from injured labourers to missing materials - so the original spirit house was replaced by a more intricate shrine. After the shrine was completed, the hotel construction completed without problem, making the shrine a popular place to pray. Since the orginal construction, the hotel has been replaced by the Grand Hyatt Erawan. Just one stop away from the central Siam Square interchange, the shrine is overlooked by Chit Lom BTS Sky Train Station.
