Jim Thompson is a famous name in Bangkok - an American former CIA agent working in Thailand, who turned entrepreneur in the silk trade. He promoted a mixture of Thai traditional arts, and his house is decorated with a wide variety of exhibits - his house being a complex of traditional teak Thai houses in the centre of Bangkok. Jim Thompson himself went missing in Malaysia in 1967 - which caused a range of conspiracy theories each of which added to the fame of Jim Thompson in Bangkok.
