Chiang Mai

Chiang Mai, the cultural capital of Thailand, is an excellent base for exploring Northern Thailand. The ancient city surrounded by walls and a moat has plenty of attractions. A very pleasant day can be spent wandering its streets, viewing its temples, pausing for coffee in one of the numerous coffee shops and perusing second hand bookstores.
