Wat Si Chum

Wat Si Chum is one of the most spectacular temples remaining at Sukhothai. Wat Si Chum is situated just north of the main historical park, but it is well worth the visit. The buddha is seated inside a square building with open ceiling, access through a narrow archway.
The Buddha is over 11 metres high, inside a 15 metre high building with walls 3 metres thick. The walls at Wat Si Chum are that thick to house a winding staircase that leads to the roof, unfortunately though the entrance is now blocked. Inside this passageway many inscribed relics were found detailing the history of Sukhothai.
In front of the temple are the ruins of an assembly hall, which creates a stunning foreground as you approach, with the Buddha staring out at you.
